Best Aimpoint Value
Aimpoint PRO Patrol Rifle Optic
Price: $ 479.00
Bought this optic primarily for the battery life and Aimpoint reliability. If you consider that the mount for this optic is the M4 mount and sells normally for about $125 by itself... that means your paying about $285 for the red dot unit. That is a smoking deal when it comes to Aimpoint red dots. Nothing else comes even close to this value, and it includes night vision compatibility. After looking this unit over it appears to be a Comp M3 with a slightly less efficient LED which gives you 30,000 hours battery life instead of the Comp M3's 50,000. I can live with that at a $300 savings. The EOtech is a nice unit too so either choice is a good one. The EOtech is made in the USA too. Anyhow I would recommend this optic... its a great deal for the money. Be forwarned the Aimpoint no longer has a lifetime warranty. It is 2 years for professional use and 10 years for personal use, some websites incorrectly say this item has lifetime warranty. Very good qaulity unit. Durability you can trust.

The AimPoint PRO offers a lot – and that’s why I purchased it for my AR. The PRO comes attached to a decent mount, has flip-up lens covers, offers several regular and nightvision brightness options, and has a claimed battery life of 3 years. Designed with input from a distinguished group of current and former professionals, the Aimpoint PRO (Patrol Rifle Optic) incorporates many never-before-seen features to maximize this sight’s performance within the challenging conditions faced by modern law enforcement.
A hard-anodized 30mm tube was utilized, enclosing a high-efficiency circuit that allows the sight to be turned on and left on for up to three years using a single battery. The Aimpoint PRO Patrol Rifle Optic’s front lens utilizes a unique band-pass coating, which allows the sight to be used with all generations of night-vision devices. The modular QRP2 mount includes a removable spacer that indexes the sight at the optimal height for co-witness with the standard iron sights on AR15/M16/M4 Carbine style weapons. This spacer can be removed to enable the use of the sight on police shotguns or sub-machine guns. The QRP2 mount for the PRO Optic also incorporates a torque-limiting twist knob that provides the optimal level of pressure on the rail while completely eliminating the possibility of over-tightening. Both the PRO Optic’s front and rear lenses are recessed within the sight body to provide protection against impact damage, scratches and fingerprints.
The red dot is very small and thus does not obscure the target, even at longer distances. The optics are fantastic. The optic is designed to be viewed with both eyes open, which gives you a huge advantage for a number of reasons (field of view, multiple targets, and situational awareness). This design allows you to keep the front sight cap closed while still being able to sight the target with both eyes open.
The AIMpoint PRO has a lot of the same features of the COMP M4 models at a more affordable price. Solid construction, multiple red dot settings, and compatible with a night vision add-on for future modifications. I also liked that it has the lens covers with the visible back for any emergency uses that may require a faster reaction time. It has a long battery life and was easy to mount also. I chose the AIMpoint PRO over the EOTech 512 – but both are solid performers.

Now for the most important part, how well does it work as a sight? Amazingly. It has held its zero after a couple hundred rounds and a little banging around. It almost feels a little bit like cheating, just put the dot where you want the bullet to go and it goes there. I was simply amazed when we started plinking at 250 yards at how easy it was to just pick something out and shoot it, and the bullets went right where you want them. It is paralax free, so no matter what angle you look at it through, the dot will always be on the point of impact of the bullet
This is Aimpoint’s secret! The quality of this product is second only to Trijicon (in my opinion). I did a lot of research before buying this sight last year, and for the money, you can’t beat it. This thing feels indestructable, so there’s no concern in having to be delicate with it. If you’re looking for a great red-dot set up for your AR platform, go with this while it’s still legal for US citizens to own it!
